JOHNSON CITY - Mr. Billy Joe Guinn, 67, Johnson City, died Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Christian Assisted Living, Johnson City.
Mr. Guinn was a son of the late Ruby Jones Guinn of Johnson City.
He was a graduate of Science Hill High School and East Tennessee State University where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He was employed in hotel management for more than 25 years and for much of his adult life worked second and third jobs near his home in West Knoxville. Mr. Guinn was a devoted son and brother and in different eras of his life alternately served as a strong right arm for his mother and both of his sisters.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Lou Shipley of Knoxville, and his brother, Robert "Bobby" Guinn, of Los Angeles.
His survivors include his sister, Sue Guinn Legg, Johnson City, four nieces, Rhonda Cordero, Debbie Christopher, Sara Trail and Stephanie Walters and their families.
In a final act of kindness, Mr. Guinn donated his eyes to Donor Services of East Tennessee.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, Jonesborough. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM at Monte Vista Burial Park, Johnson City.
