William Champney Obituary

Scott was a pillar of the ETSU Community. He shared his love for teaching and research with his students and colleagues that changed the lives of those he taught and those they are now teaching or healing. Scott was an active member of the ETSU faculty and served for many years on the Graduate Council setting the standard for those who joined the Graduate Faculty. I appreciate his thoughtful and dedicated approach to his work and the legacy that he leaves for our university. My sincere sympathy to Judy and his family.

He was an influential part of my growing up. I was in scouts with quite a few of the Champney family and have so many fond memories with them, from Scott Champney as a scout leader to his wonderful children as fellow scouts. He will be missed in this world but made a lasting impact on so many people!

Scott was a wonderful colleague in the College of Medicine, a fantastic teacher and an excellent scientist. It an honor to have worked with him. May his wife Judy and the family celebrate with joy his lifetime of achievements and find comfort knowing that we are all better off for having known him.

My condolences to you, Judy, and the family. Scott was a beloved member of the Johnson City Community Concert Band, having served as band president more than once and as the section leader for percussion. Scott will always be remembered for his friendly smile and his pleasant personality. I am submitting photos I have with him in summer concerts with our community band.

So sorry to hear of his passing! He and Judy were such strong and effective members of the Alliance for Continued Learning through ETSU. He will be missed by so many! He is irreplaceable not only to his friends and family, but also to those of us who knew him primarily through his work with ACL.

Scott Champney was a wonderful scientist and colleague with whom I had the pleasure of working and teaching Biochemistry at the Quillen College of Medicine. I fondly remember chatting with him during lunchtime on beautiful fall days as we sat on benches under the trees on the ETSU campus. Scott was a kind and gentle leader of the Biochemistry faculty. His educational efforts are being felt throughout the country where those he mentored now work and practice medicine. He and Judy made this community a better place to live through their many contributions. Praying for comfort and peace for Judy, his family, and all who will miss him. His life blessed many.

We are so sorry to hear of Scott´s passing. Our son Brandon was friends with Greg when we lived on Galen Drive. We have many fond memories of your family.

I was so shocked to hear of Scott´s passing tonight in Community Band. Scott was such a great person and a dedicated musician. After he left the band, I made it a point to find Scott at our band concerts and see how he was doing. Scott, you will be missed
