ELIZABETHTON - Stanley Lee Barnett, age 83, of Elizabethton, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Stanley was born in Carter County to the late Ford and Florence Julian Barnett. In addition to his parents, Stanley was also preceded in death by his wife, Violet Diane Peters Barnett; and one sister, Sandra Boyd.

Stanley retired from the United States Army National Guard after 30 years of service and served in the Persian Gulf War. Stanley was of the Baptist faith and loved watching NASCAR, the Tennessee Vols, playing BINGO at the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center. He was a member of the American Legion and the DAV and he loved talking with his neighbors.

Those left to cherish Stanley's memory include his children, Diana Lynn Barnett of Elizabethton and Terry Lee Barnett and wife Dawn of Newland, NC; his sister, Sheila Barnett of Kingsport; and a brother-in-law, Paul Boyd.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, March 12, 2026 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to pay their respects and sign the guest register book.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Teddy Lewis officiating. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Stevens and Terry Mann. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 AM on Friday.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Stanley to the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center.
