Donald Frank Orth

July 5, 1941 -

March 9, 2026

GRAY - Donald Frank Orth, 84, passed away peacefully at his home in Gray, TN, March 9, 2026. He was born July 5, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, to Donald and Virginia Orth. Donald dedicated his life to caring for others, practicing dentistry for 43 years, including a number of years in Latin America working with mission groups. He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis, completing his dental degree in 1968.

A devoted veteran, Donald served with the United States Navy, including a tour with the Riverines in Vietnam. His commitment to service-both military and professional-touched countless lives throughout his lifetime.

Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret "Peggy" Orth; his son, Terry Orth, and daughter in law, Natalie, of Johnson City; his daughter, Jenny Muiznieks, and son in law, Rob, of Clarksville, Tennessee; and his cherished grandchildren, Trent and Tanner Orth, and Sam and Ava Muiznieks. He is also remembered by his brother, Charles Orth, of Hawaii, and his nephew, Charles Orth, of Virginia.

In addition to his professional and military service, Donald enjoyed collecting Civil War artifacts and playing the piano. He was a member of Unicoi Christian Church.

The family of Don Orth will receive friends Sunday, March 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Morris-Baker. The funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00 PM in the Dogwood Chapel with Mr. Lance Hanbey and Mr. Don Price, Ministers, officiating. Pallbearers will be: Trent Orth, Tanner Orth, Rob Muiznieks, Dick Price, Bill Tingley, and Brandon Price.

Mr. Orth will be laid to rest at Mountain Home National Cemetery following a private committal service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unicoi Christian Church, 417 Tennessee St., Unicoi, TN 37692.

Donald's warmth, humor, and kindness will be deeply missed but always remembered. His legacy of service, generosity, and love endures in the lives of all who knew him.
