JOHNSON CITY - Delores Ann Phillips Jones Shell, age 86, of Johnson City, formerly of Erwin, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 02, 2026, at NHC. She is a daughter of the late William E. "Junior" Phillips and Dorothy Norris Phillips. Delores was born and raised in Erwin where she lived most of her life before moving to Johnson City.
She graduated from Unicoi County High School where she was a cheerleader, majorette, and class beauty. Delores was a very hard worker. She retired from NN Ball and Roller with over twenty-five years of service.
Delores was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church in Kingsport. She had a kind, generous heart and beautiful smile.
Delores had an outgoing personality. She was an excellent dancer, especially Shag dancing which was her favorite. Delores loved fashion and she always found a great bargain when she was shopping.
She was a great cook and loved welcoming family and friends into her home to entertain. Delores enjoyed traveling and being outdoors.
Above all, Delores adored being with her family, taking care of them and loving them dearly.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her husband, James Shell in May of 2008, her daughter, Angie Jones and her brother, Tommy Phillips.
Delores leaves behind to cherish many wonderful memories, her son, Bill Jones and his wife, Haley of Johnson City; five grandchildren: Harper Jones, Anna Rae Jones, Andrea McKee, Carrie Wagner, and Sabrina McKee; eight great grandchildren; nephew, Thomas Phillips.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Johnson City. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Curtis Hurt and Pastor David Foster officiating. Music will be provided by Brittney McGuire.
