James Crouch Obituary

James Eric Crouch

March 6, 2026

GRAY - James Eric Crouch, 55, Gray, entered into heaven, Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Johnson City Medical Center.

He was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Sanford and Imogene Russell Crouch.

James was a faithful member of Strong Tower Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was actively involved in the teen ministry for many years. He also faithfully served in the Kairos Prison Ministry for several years. Throughout his life, he was a dedicated business owner, operating James Crouch Garage, Ty's 5 Garage, and RKT Trucking.

James loved to travel and enjoyed cutting up and sharing laughter with those around him. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. His greatest joy was playing and spending time with his beloved grandbabies.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Connie Stafford Crouch; daughter, Logan Thomas and husband Matthew; grandbabies, Roane Thomas and Maren Thomas; brother, Sanford Crouch and wife Charlene; niece, Shannon Seal and husband Scott; many special friends he served the Lord with over the years who love and support him.

The funeral service for James will be conducted Tuesday, March 10, 2026, 7:00pm at Strong Tower Baptist Church, 1022 Old Stage Rd. Johnson City, TN 37615 with Pastor Ancel Presnell and Pastor Jody Jenkins, officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 5:30-7:00pm at the church.

The graveside committal service will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, 11:00am in Washington County Memory Gardens. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50am. Pallbearers will be Larry Adams II, Larry Adams III, Bailey Presnell, Carter Presnell, Justin Odom and Matthew Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrel Rhodes, Steve Newton, Gary Conner, and Johnny Estep.

In-lieu-of flowers donations can be made to Strong Tower Baptist Church building fund.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care team on 2400, the wound care team at Johnson City Medical Center, and Ballad Cancer Center at Indian Path.
