JOHNSON CITY - Betty Jean Stettner, age 90, of Johnson City, entered the arms of Jesus, on Saturday, October 11th, 2025. Originally from Brookport, IL, Betty worked in office maintenance before her retirement.

A devoted wife to her husband, Martin Stettner until his death in April of 2007. Betty was the daughter of the late Vivian and Fern Smith and was part of a large family. Through the years, she enjoyed crocheting, what she called, "Scrubbies" and dish clothes, and if you visited her you were bound to be given one. She loved giving to others throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by brothers, Reluis Smith and Louia Smith; sisters True Haney, Peggy Yancey and Valena Sumners.

She is survived by her children, Sherrie (Carlos) Watt, and Eloise Garland; grandchildren, Justin (Kelly) Watt, Melanie (Edgardo) Santiago, Alex (Debbie) Garland, Joseph Garland, Michael (Carey) Garland; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, James and Larry Smith; sisters, Diane Alston and Mary Blankenship; along with many nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to say thank you to some very special friends, Wayne and Jean McGeorge, Catherine Blaggs and Jackie Street.

The family will receive friends Friday, October 17, 2025, from 10:30 – 11:30am, in the East Chapel at Appalachian Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Memorial Park, Johnson City at 12:00pm.

In-lieu-of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor, to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org
