Steven Cochran Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 2 Timothy 4:7

Steven Kent Cochran was born to the late Frank and Volena (Hurt) Cochran. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Frank James, Gary, and Fred.

Steven graduated from Erwin High School. He worked for Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc., previously known as Evans Welding and Valley Welding for 44 years until he was no longer able to work in October 2020.

Steven will be remembered for his love for the Lord and his family. Steven was a hard-working man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and to tell someone about Jesus and the change He made in his life. He loved going to church and singing the praises of God and testifying of His goodness. He was a praying man who had a strong faith in God. He pastored several Free Will Baptist Churches including: Eastern Gate, Solid Rock, Curtis Creek, Upper Pigeon Roost, Marietta First Freewill, and Unaka Springs. He loved his boys with all of his heart. Years later, God blessed him with the love of his life, Holly and her son, whom he loved as his own. Steve and Holly did everything together, and they treasured every second God gave them together. He loved his little granddaughter, Harper, and little grandson, Colton. They were the sparkle in his eye and his pride and joy. He was excited to welcome his new grandson, Matthias, in June 2024.

Those left to cherish Steven's memory include his loving wife and best friend, Holly Honeycutt Cochran, his sons; Jacob Cochran and wife Tara Beth; Caleb Cochran; Luke Cochran and wife Kat, and Peyton Wiseman and wife Megan, special nephew who he loved as a son, Willie Vance and wife Kecia and their children Raelynn and John Ruben; his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Bob Bruns; his brothers, Robert Cochran and wife Sharon, and Rocky Cochran; a sister-in-law, Alma Cochran; his granddaughter, Harper Joan Cochran; his grandson, Colton Wiseman, and Baby Matthias Cochran due in June 2024, and his mother-in-law, Janice Davis Honeycutt, and his furbaby, Gracie Mae.

Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Steven Kent Cochran will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John L. Stockton, Rev. Jacob Cochran, and Rev. Willie Vance officiating.

A eulogy will be given by his wife, Holly Cochran. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service or at the residence at any time.

The graveside service will be conducted at the Davis-Gouge Cemetery, Unicoi, TN, in the Limestone Cove Community following the service with Rev. Dexter Brummitt officiating. Active pallbearers will be Bobby Jack Davis, Jimmy Davis, Dewey Edwards, Mike Garland, Mike Hodge, Mike Ingram, Matt Sadler, and Kenny Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be his friends and his church family at Limestone Cove First F.W.B. Church; Carl Long; Dr. Jeff Farrow and his nurse Sherry; Dr. Raymond Merrick;

Amedisys Hospice of Elizabethton and his special nurse, Megan; Sycamore Shoals Hospital doctors, nurses, and staff; Dr. Patel, Dr. Lambert, and Ballad Inpatient Hospice for their compassionate and

wonderful care shown to Steve and his family. The family also wishes to express their sincere appreciation to everyone for their love and support during Steve's illness.
