Sally Ramsey Obituary

Sally Elizabeth Bradford Ramsey

April 7, 1942 -

July 13, 2025

ERWIN - Sally Elizabeth Bradford Ramsey, age 83, of Erwin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was born and raised in the Spivey Mountain Community. Sally is a daughter of the late Lyde Bradford and Gladys Brinkley Bradford.

She began her banking career in Erwin as a teller at Home Federal Bank, which later became Valley Federal Bank and when Sally retired in 1997, she was the Bank Manager at First Tennessee Bank. Sally really enjoyed working at the bank where she made many friends among co-workers and with her customers throughout the community.

Sally was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a member of The Joy Sunday School Class which she loved dearly. Sally looked forward to fellowshipping with all her friends at their monthly luncheon dates. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for several years.

She was a member of Eastern Star for many years. She was an active member of the Erwin/Unicoi County community where she liked socializing with everyone. Sally was an avid Unicoi County Blue Devil sports fan. She never missed any of her daughter's or grandsons' sporting events over the years. Sally was a huge fan of the UT Vols alongside her husband, Gene, for many years.

Anyone who knew Sally also knew she was a very, very patient woman who loved her husband and family with all her heart.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-seven and a half years, Gene Ramsey who passed away on March 04, 2019; two brothers: Jack and Dick Bradford (Judy); two sisters: Gale Williams (Lynn) and Jessie Gentry (Bill).

Sally leaves behind to cherish many precious memories, her daughter, Amy Ramsey Reed; two grandsons: Raben and Boone Reed, all of Erwin; brother-in-law, Jerel Ramsey (Phyllis) of Blountville; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Pastor David Crutchfield will officiate the 6:00 p.m. funeral service. Donna Cantrell will deliver her Aunt Sally's eulogy. Music will be provided by Gary Amos, Larry Pate and Jonathan Crutchfield. Sally's committal will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Raben Reed, Boone Reed, Brian Culbreth, Luke Culbreth, Jake Culbreth, and Jerry Bennett. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 a.m. on Friday.
