Sandy Hensley Lingerfelt

ERWIN-Sandy Hensley Lingerfelt, age 73, of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 06, 2026. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and daughter of the late R.H. Hensley and Beverly Barnett Hensley.
Sandy retired from the Clinchfield Federal Credit Union after forty-three years of service. She considered herself blessed to have worked a job which she loved. She called the staff and board her Clinchfield Family and thought the members were all very special. During her tenure, she served as President of the Northeast Chapter of Credit Unions, Chairman of the Tennessee Credit Union League Board of Directors, CUNA Board Member, National Credit Union Foundation Board Member and Chairman of the CUNA Audit Committee.
Sandy loved the Lord and she was a faithful, active member of Central Baptist Church for many years. She loved her church family dearly.
Sandy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved baking for her family and friends. Sandy was very well known for her delicious homemade sour dough bread, and her delectable, cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed making her beautiful jewelry. Sandy always had a bright, beautiful smile on her face, and liked to sparkle everywhere she went.
In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her son, James Ashley "Jamie" Lingerfelt on November 21, 2020; grandparents: Reverend Richmond and Emily Barnett, and Belle Hensley; one brother, Greg Hensley; sister-in-law, Imogene Thomas.
Sandy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of fifty-four years, Grady Lingerfelt; her two daughters: Lisa Lingerfelt of Erwin, and Julie Little (Chris) of Jonesborough; grandchildren: Jacob Frazier, Carly Baxter, Jared Little (Allyson), and Arielle Sheehan (Sam); sisters-in-law: Charlyne Griffith (Clyde), Phyllis Coffey (Lawrence), Marilyn Ayers (Bob); brother-in-law, Bill Lingerfelt (Shirley); special cousins: Elizabeth Willis, Debi Woods, and Doug Bowman; special friends: Donna Coffie, Bandy Tester Sides, Brenda Mashburn, Martha Horton, Ernestine Hatcher, and Rowan Morgan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The Lingerfelt family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Bart Richardson and Reverend Larry Wiley will officiate the 2:00 p.m. funeral service. Music will be provided by Bart Richardson, Larry Wiley, and Martha Wiley. Sandy's entombment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2026, in the Evergreen Mausoleum. Active pallbearers will be Bart Ray, Curtis Edwards, Todd Love, Michael Allen, Frank Rogers, and Doug Bowman. Honorary pallbearers will be Central Baptist Church Deacons. Those wishing to attend Sandy's entombment are asked to meet at the mausoleum by 2:50 p.m. on Monday.
