Rev. Jack Dykes April 8, 1941 - September 18, 2024
JONESBOROUGH - Rev. Jack Dykes, age 83, Jonesborough, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at his residence.
Rev. Dykes was born in Washington County, Tennessee on April 8, 1941, to the late Clyde Earnest & Sarah Pleasant Dykes. He was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
Rev. Dykes was a United States Army Veteran.
He was the pastor of Green Pine Baptist Church and had pastored several other churches in the area over his 47 years of ministry. He loved being with his family and his church family. He also enjoyed fishing and was an all-star basketball player in high school.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Carlotta Marsh Dykes, Jonesborough; two sons, Randy Dykes, Jonesborough and Scott Dykes, Gray; one daughter, Lori Hull (Mark), Jonesborough; grandchildren, Brooke Laws, Kim Dykes, Bailey Casey, Caleb Dykes, Corban Dykes, Reece Hull, Haley Hull, Dustyn Hull and Brittany Hull; brother, Daryl Dykes, Jonesborough; sister, Brenda Rogers, Johnson City; sisters-in-law, Belinda Parker and Linda Marsh; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Johnson City Medical Center and Amedisys for the wonderful care given to Jack.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, September 20, 2024, at Washington County Memory Gardens with Rev. Jim "Butch" Stout and Rev. Jack Lyons officiating. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 9:45 am Friday morning.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Dykes, Corban Dykes, Reece Hull, Steve Lane, Jim Aiken and Chad Barr.
