Harold McEwen Obituary

ELIZABETHTON - Harold Haggard McEwen, 96, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2024 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, he was a son of the late Dana & Mae Nave McEwen. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from North American Rayon Corporation. He was a member of The American Legion; he was a fifty-year member of Watauga Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed dealing in Antique Tools and watches. He had a booth at the Eagle Center Co-op. In earlier years he attended Little Doe Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Yvonne Snyder McEwen and a sister: Mary Lee Berry.

Survivors include his sons: Doug (Teresa) McEwen, Bowling Green, Kentucky and Steve (Paula) McEwen, Elizabethton. Four Grandchildren: Brandon McEwen, Brandon Sosa, Caleb Jones and Hannah Trivett, and Heather (Ben) Jones. One Great-Grandson: Brentlee Jones. Two Brothers: Charles McEwen and James McEwen. Several nieces and nephews.

A Masonic Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Memorial Funeral Chapel by Watauga Masonic Lodge. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Military Honors will be provided. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:55 p.m. Sunday will be: R. E. Brown, Floyd Vandeventer, Ken Arney, Keith Davenport, Bill Carter and John Bunn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roger Winters, Todd Hughes, Bill Jones, Dan Britt, Allen Jarrett and Rory Jones. The family would like to express a special thank you to his friends at the Eagle Center and also his friends and neighbors on Caleb Street for all their love and support through the years. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
