Alan J. Walser, age 85, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Alan was a native of Washington County and was born on March 8, 1941, to the late Dewey D. and Ruby M. Gobble Walser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-one years, Lana Fair Walser; an infant son, Mark Alan Walser; one brother, Harold Walser; and two sisters, Jean Tipton and Judy McKamey.

Alan proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a certified Journeyman electrician for forty years and was employed by the TVA. He was a member of IBEW Local #934 and the Watauga Masonic Lodge #622 F&AM. He was a faithful member of East Side Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years.

Alan will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed working Sudoku puzzles and found simple joy in eating honey buns and drinking coffee.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Cindy Crowe (Brian); his son, Randy Walser (Bethany); two granddaughters, Whitney Jarrett (Chris), and Alana Walser; one sister, Jo Ann Holley; a sister-in-law, Mary Ann Walser; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at East Side Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Justin Deaton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church

A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Brian Crowe, Christopher Jarrett, James Butler, Jason Hambrick, Jeff Carr, and Danny Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be Luther Cox, Johnny McDonnell, Ray Helms, and especially Jonesboro Tigers Class of 1959; and his friends at East Side Free Will Baptist Church.

Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 12:15 p.m. on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Side Free Will Baptist Church Food Pantry, 704 Siam Road, Elizabethton, TN, 37643.
