April 18, 2026

JOHNSON CITY - Edward "Ed" J. McInturff, 77, Johnson City, passed away Saturday evening, April 18, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

Ed was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of the late J.B. and Evelyn Joyce Chinouth McInturff.

Ed was a 1966 graduate of Science Hill High School, then dutifully served our country with the U.S. Air Force, where he reached the rank of Sergeant, while serving in Italy, Greece and Spain, as a codebreaker. Following his discharge, Ed served in the Tennessee National Guard.

He then worked at Eastman Chemical Co., retiring in 2019 after forty-seven years of service.

Ed was an active member of First Christian Church, Johnson City, where he served in several capacities, most special to him were the welcome and security teams.

Ed was a loving Papa to his grandchildren and lots of other kids from church, and a diehard Dallas Cowboys & UT Vols fan. He also enjoyed golf and collectables.

Ed is survived by his loving wife, Margaret McInturff; his cherished "baby", son, Greg McInturff, and daughter-in-law, Tanya, of Johnson City; and his three step-sons: Allen Huffman and wife Michelle of Afton, Brian Huffman and wife Jamie of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Jordan Huffman and wife Lesley of Nashville.

He is also survived by his seven grandchildren: Addison McInturff and fiancé Casey Whiting of Gray, Avery McInturff and fiancé Reid Wilson of Gray, Ella McInturff of Johnson City; Olivia, Blakely, and Harrison Huffman of Kennesaw, Georgia; and Will Huffman of Nashville.

Ed also leaves behind several loving cousins, many dear friends, and his faithful best buddy, Rodey.

The memorial service celebrating Ed's life will be conducted Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 6:00 P.M., in the sanctuary of First Christian Church, 200 E. Mountcastle Dr., Johnson City, TN 37601. Ethan Magness, Donald Mushayamunda, and Nikki Hunt, Ministers, will officiate. Special music will be provided by Michael Imboden.

The family will receive friends Sunday prior to the service from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the church.

Earlier today

Mr. Ed was so dear to our hearts. He was one of the first people to genuinely make us feel so special and welcomed at FCC. The light of Jesus truly shined through his beautiful smile. Margaret, Greg, Tanya and family, May GOD hold you dearly and give you strength and comfort through the days ahead until you are reunited with him in Christ Jesus . Much love, Amy and Phil Terry
