Carolyn Martin Obituary
March 25, 1936 - April 11, 2025
Carolyn Baker Martin passed away April 11, 2025 at Hillview Health Center. Carolyn was born 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama. Her parents were Stanley Howard Baker and Edna Richards Baker, both deceased. Carolyn graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY with a Master of Arts in Religious Education. She taught school in Kentucky, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee before retiring as Director of Christian Education of First Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton, TN.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years John L Martin, Sr., her son John L. Martin, Jr. and his wife Tina. Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter Julianne. Grandchildren are Travis and Jason Marshall, sons of Julianne, and Michelle and Katherine Martin daughters of John and Tina.
Friends and acquaintances are invited to attend a memorial service for Carolyn on Sunday, June 15th at 3:00 PM, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church, Elizabethton, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Holston Habitat for Humanity.
