William Henry Sells September 20, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - William Henry Sells, age 96, of Johnson City, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024 at the Lakebridge Healthcare Center. He was born in Johnson City, Tennessee, a son of the late Homer Sells and Pearl Sellers Sells. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Lois Edwards Sells; one son, William Ricky Sells; two sisters, Dorothy Kinzie and Ella Ruth Day; and one brother, Charles Sells.
William was a very well-known carpenter in the Johnson City area having worked for Charles Swatzell Construction as a cabinet maker and retired from J E Green Company Contractors. He was a member of Knob Creek Church of the Brethren. He received the Excellence in Craftsmanship Award from The Watauga Chapter of The American Institute of Architects for Quality Workmanship as a master carpenter with C.C. Swatzell Construction Company for the work on the 1st National Bank Branch at the Tri-City Airport. William loved to build things for others and his family has many pieces of his work they will always cherish.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Homer Keith Sells and wife Vicki; one daughter, Rita Sells; five grandchildren, Matthew William Sells and wife Dena, Cindy Lee Nelson and husband Jason, Ashley Elizabeth VanNortwick and husband Scott, Katie Marie Sells, and William Christopher Sells; nine great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Bob Day; and several nieces and nephews.
A Committal Service and Interment be held at 2:00PM Monday, September 23, 2024 in Garden of the Last Supper at Roselawn Memory Gardens with Chaplain Stephen Collins officiating.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Lakebridge Healthcare Center and close friends for all the love and care that was shown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
