William (Bill) Cecil Ratliff, 73, of Unicoi, TN, passed away on August 20, 2025. Born on July 31, 1952, Bill dedicated 30 years to educating young minds in the classroom and on the football field at Bluff City Middle School, leaving a lasting impact on countless students.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman, relishing in catching catfish on a trotline, bass fishing on the lake, hunting in the mountains, and camping with his River Family. His enthusiasm for tubing down the Nolichucky River and cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers were among his favorite pastimes, shared joyously with friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Ratliff; daughter, Whitney Barnett; son-in-law, Tom Barnett; granddaughters, Ella and Emma Barnett; sister, Barbara Ratliff; brother, Robert (Donna) Ratliff; niece, Tammy (Miles) Cox; and nephew, Brandon Ratliff. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Edith and Cecil Ratliff.

Bill completed his education journey starting at Elm Street Elementary School, progressing through Unicoi County High School, and earning a bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University. His passion for fun and adventure was evident throughout his teaching career and in his personal hobbies.

The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Bill will be forever remembered as a loving husband, dad, papaw, teacher, coach, and friend.
