William "Bill" Jones

SPARTANBURG, SC - William Kyle "Bill" Jones, 91, passed away on October 30, 2025 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was a member of Valley Forge Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and Elder for many years. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of Hampton Lodge #750 for 60 years. He worked many years for Sperry before retiring from Raytheon. He loved coaching both the men's and women's softball teams at church. He spent many post-retirement days playing golf, fishing and so enjoyed being a member of the City Market Breakfast Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jean Jones; his parents Roy and Nell Jones; his brother Elmer Jones and steadfast friends Clay Bailey, Mib Ellis, Max Harrison, Mack Hill, Ted Orr among others. He is survived by his daughter Donna Hillenbrand of Hoover, Alabama and his son Richard Jones of Gaffney, South Carolina; three granddaughters of whom he was so proud of and loved dearly: Lindsey Hillenbrand Ellsworth (Charlie), Shelby Jones Greer (A.J.) and Hailey Jones; great grandson, Andrew Richard Ellsworth and great granddaughter, Avery Blake Greer who brought so much joy, laughter, and love to his life.

A gathering to celebrate Bill's life will be held on Saturday, November 15th at 11:00 AM at Valley Forge Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Valley Forge Christian Church, 114 V F Christian Church Rd., Elizabethton, Tennessee 37643 or Meals on Wheels.

The family would like any person who has a favorite Bill story to please share at the celebration service.
