JOHNSON CITY - Thelma Jean Hawkins, age 90 of Johnson City passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in 1934 to the late Coy and Louella Taylor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Taylor and his wife, Jackie; a sister, Marie Vanhoy and a niece, Sherry.
Thelma was retired from Siemens of Johnson City after many years of service. She loved her Atlanta Braves and was looking forward to going to the game at Bristol next year.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Hawkins and wife, Robin, Freddie Hawkins and wife, Angie, Lynn Hawkins and wife, Kim and Scott Hawkins; her daughters, Carla Weese and husband, Gary and Becky Banks and husband, Frank; a brother, Kenneth Taylor and wife, Bessie; her sisters, Betty Garland and husband, Troy and Sue Warren and husband, James; Mom loved getting out on Saturday's with her sisters. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends, Ruthie, Neva, Velma and many many more.
The family would like to give special thanks to her Doctors and Nurses and staff on the 6th floor of Johnson City Medical Center for their caring and kindness.
Per Mom's request there will be no formal service. A Celebration of Life for her family and friends will be held at a later date.

Have such fond memories with Jean especially when I was little. Taking me to Elvis movies. We kept in touch as old folks do on Facebook sharing news both old and new. I appreciated how she loved my brother. Thinking of you all and lifting you up in prayers. Love Aunt Ann

Jean was not only my family but was a friend and a confidant. She loved big and kept us all connected and grounded. I could never express my gratitude for all the help she gave me when taking care of my dad/her brother Jimmie. I'm grateful to have had her in my life and will miss our phone calls and texts. I love you to infinity Jean and I hope you are laughing and telling stories with all our family who were waiting for you.

I worked with jane at Siemens. I'm so sorry to hear that she passed away. Jean would tell me every year at Christmas time that she was listening to her Elvis Presley Christmas cd that I had gotten her one year for Christmas. I'll never forget her and I'll miss talking to her. Rest in peace sweet Jean.

I worked with Jean at Texas Instruments. She was my carousel operator. Jean was a happy hard worker.
