With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Tammy Lorene Nelson, a cherished daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her. Tammy, born on July 18, 1964, in Paragould, Arkansas, left this world on November 14, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones in her hometown.
Tammy found joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a passion for the outdoors and spent many hours admiring nature and her favorite flowers, roses. Tammy's evenings were often spent immersed in crime shows, finding solace in the mysteries that unfolded on-screen. She was also a proud co-owner of Batten Bakery for many years, a business she operated alongside her mother, leaving a lasting impact in their community.
Tammy's love extended beyond her family members to her granddog Lily, who held a special place in her heart. She found comfort in the melodies of Johnny Cash and 90s country music, with their lyrics resonating deeply within her soul.
Tammy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin Nelson; parents, Bill and Bonnie Alice (Stevens) Abbott; and brother, David Abbott.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Kelsey (Bryan) Christie (McCoy); son Bradley Nelson; and grandchildren, Makenzie Sims, Chance Crews, Brayleigh Crews, Jacob Nelson, and Isaac Nelson. She is also survived by her brothers Danny Abbott, Lesley Abbott, and Morgan Abbott, as well as many other family members and friends.
In honoring Tammy's life, the family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, November 23, at Heath Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A procession will then follow to New Friendship Cemetery for a graveside service.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Bradley Nelson, Bryan Christie, Danny Abbott, Lesley Abbott, Morgan Abbott, and Timothy Abbott.
Today we remember Tammy for her warmth, kindness, and the unforgettable moments she shared with those closest to her. As we prepare to bid her farewell, let us find solace in the memories that will forever live on in our hearts.
May she rest in peace, surrounded by the beauty of eternal gardens, forever watching over those she held dear.
