ERWIN - Stanley R. Casey, age 79, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. A native of Erwin, Stanley is a son of the late Pat Grover and Pearl Kay (Wilson) Casey. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1965 – 1968. He was of the Baptist faith. Stanley enjoyed working on cars and loved Bluegrass music; but his greatest love was his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by one brother, Alvin Casey; son-in-law, Rick Whitaker; and sisters-in-law: Bertie Sue Phillips and Linda Casey.
Stanley R. Casey has left behind to cherish his memory: wife of 56 years, Brenda Lou (Phillips) Casey; sons: Brian Casey (Tracy), and Danny Casey (Janie); daughters: Melissa Whitaker (William), and Tina Whitaker (Mike); adopted son, Kevin Shaw; grandchildren: Brandon, Charlie, Heather, Daniel, Caleb, Keshia, Keaton, Alexis, Madison, Kaylee, Ricky and Cindy; 18 great-grandchildren; special niece, Viola Williams (Frank); numerous nieces and nephews; one brother, William Casey (Bea); and special brother-in-law, Lawrence Phillips.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Stanley R. Casey in a committal service to be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Reverend Jeff Autrey will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will be held from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Friday in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Those attending the committal service should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 1:30 pm on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be: Kevin Shaw, T.A. Wilson, Danny Casey, Mike Whitaker, Buzzie Ingram and Brian Casey. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Williams and Juan Jordan.
