JOHNSON CITY - 1stSgt. Berkley Kent Hampton USMC (Ret.), 95, Johnson City, TN, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Lakebridge, A Waters Community.

He was born on September 17, 1930, in Williamson County, Il and was a son of the late James "Tim" Timothy Hampton and Sarah Elizabeth Halstead Hampton.

Berkley's 23 years (1949-1972) of Marine Corps Service included the Korean Conflict and two combat tours in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents Berkley was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Phillips Hampton; sons, Michael Kent Hampton and Stephen Daniel Hampton; brothers, William Glen Hampton (Shirley), Jack Dean Hampton (Joana); sister, Wanda Mae Poole (Pete).

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Donald Richard Hampton; daughter-in-law, Dolores Hampton; grandchildren, Ramiro Jr, Michelle and husband Ernie; great grandchildren, Matthew (Sgt U.S. Army), Tatiana, Alicia, and Tristan; nephews, Dennis Hampton and wife Dana, David Hampton and wife Barbara.

A graveside service will be held to honor the life of Berkley on Friday, April 10, 2026, 2:00pm in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers and military honors provided by HQMC Funeral Honors.

Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50pm.
