Mr. Sammy Stuart Baird, of Piney Flats, age 83, passed away Tuesday October 8, 2024. Sam was born in Johnson City, TN on March 5, 1941 to the late Rom and Edith Baird. (Bluff City, TN)
He was a member of Piney Flats United Methodist Church where he served in many positions. He graduated from Buff City High School and East Tennessee State University. He played Baseball at each school for 4 years. He retired from Sullivan County Health Department. He loved coaching little league baseball and playing golf with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Baird, Piney Flats. One Daughter, Edie Gouge and Son-in-law, Lee Gouge, Elizabethton. One son, Kevin Scott Baird and Daughter-in-law, Jennifer Baird, Irmo, South Carolina. Two Grandchildren, John Gouge, Johnson City and Alex Gouge, Elizabethton.
A celebration of life will be held at Piney Flats UMC at a later date.
The Family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at American House, Johnson City and the staff at NHC Johnson City.

I am sorry to see that Sammy has passed away. My husband Jim always talked about the days of playing baseball. Also, I remember Scott and want to extend my sympathy to him and the rest of the family, especially Judy.
