JOHNSON CITY - Roger Alan Duncan, age 61, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 15, 2024 after a long battle with brain cancer.
Roger was born on July 1, 1963, in Carter County, Tennessee. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his beloved wife, Debbie Duncan; his sister, Debbie Archer (Rick Archer), his nephew, Chris Archer (Allison Pierce), his stepmother, Becky Duncan; his children, Angel Morgan; Tiffany Johnson (John Johnson), Demi Duncan; Natasha Townsend (Bradley Townsend), Hunter Peters; his best friend, Pat Tester; his Nuclear Fuel Services family, Centerra Security Force, and many extended family members and friends.
Roger was a loving and devoted father to his children and Papaw to his grandchildren: Hunter, Courtney, Jayden, Roger, Philip, Easton, Jennings, Stevie, and Pappy to Emma.
He graduated with a master's degree from East Tennessee State University and retired from Nuclear Fuel Services after 35 years of dedicated service. He attended Valley Forge Freewill Baptist Church of Elizabethton and was a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Roger lived life to the fullest, always bringing joy and positivity to those around him. He was known for his cheerful attitude and entertaining others. He loved playing golf, antiquing, thrifting, attending auctions, playing basketball, and traveling with his family. He had a great love for sports and actively followed the St. Louis Cardinals, the New York Knicks, and the Washington Redskins. Roger was a hard-working, devoted, and kind hearted man who was as genuine as they come. He was best known for his boisterous personality and making each day special for those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Christine Oglesby, and father, Garland Duncan.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the Celebration of Life Service.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Johnson, and Pastor Mark Potter officiating. The eulogy will be given by his best friend Pat Tester. Music with be provided by Megan Harsh, Natalie Wright and Lance Harsh. Graveside Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in the Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Fullager, Dr. Singal and staff, Dr. Colvett and staff, physical therapist Aaron Justus, and Johnson City Medical Center's fourth floor nursing staff and medical team for their exceptional care and support.
Active Pallbearers will include John Johnson, Bradley Townsend, Hunter Peters, Pat Tester, Tim Shell, and Chris Archer. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Archer, Charles Hyder, and Tony Lawson.

Roger's unwavering faith, love, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of his family and all who were blessed to know him. To know him was to love him.
