JOHNSON CITY - Robert James "Bob" Sarver of Johnson City passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center and entered the Pearly Gates of Heaven.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Johnson City. He was the son of Francis (Jay) Hartman but was raised by his grandparents Robert & Bessie Lawson Hartman.
Bob graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in May 1951. Bob was an auto mechanic and was employed by Courtesy Motors and then worked for Clyde Cash at Clyde's Auto Repair before going out on his own opening Bob's Auto Repair in 1977, where he was known as "World Famous."
He enjoyed camping, fishing, dirt and nascar racing, car shows and grilling the famous papaw burgers and loved a big chew of chewing tobacco. Another great joy he cherished was making fruit salad with his wife every Christmas, spending quality time and making memories with her.
After living in Washington DC for a short time he found and married the love of his life Jeanelle (Pete) Bailey on November 30, 1956.
Bob was the last charter member of Valley View United Methodist Church. He served as the Adult Sunday School teacher, Lay speaker, and grounds keeper. One of his biggest enjoyments was mowing and using it as good meditation time. He loved his little church and all his friends there past and present.
In addition to his parents Bob was preceded in death by his two sisters, Charlotte Ann Mercer and Patricia Jane Laney and a brother Gary Dan Cooter, and several nieces.
Survivors includes his wife of sixty-five years Jaenelle (Pete) Sarver; two daughters, Sandra (Anthony) Moore and Darla Sarver Davenport; grandchildren, Kristy (Darrell) Mumford, Elijah (Kayla) Littleton and Mattea (C.J.) Minnick; great grandchildren, Micharl (Roberta) Hyatt, Charles (Stefanie) Hopson, Brittany Hopson, Ayden & Lily Minnick, Billy Zayne and Dani Rae Littleton; great great great grandchildren, Harmony Hyatt, Paisley Bocquer, Serenity and Silas Hyatt; brothers, Stoney (Rosalie) Sarver and John (Joyce) Sarver; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Richard (Claudia Hicks) Godsey, Dave (Ann) Ingram, James Carr and Jackie (Rose Ann) Fleenor.
The family would like to give thanks to the special nurses at JCMC, Olivia, Krishenne, Shane, and Brittany for the compassion and care they gave our father.
Also, a huge thanks to Dr. Frank Johnson Jr. and Teri from J.C. Internal Medicine for the years of great care for Dad.
The family of Robert James "Bob" Sarver will receive friends Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 2-4 pm at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City. The funeral service will be held Monday, March 25, 2024, at Valley View United Methodist Church, 117 Hartmantown Road Jonesborough, Tn at 1:00 pm with Stephen Reynolds officiating. The graveside committal service will follow at 3pm in the Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City, Tn. Active pallbearers will be, Elijah Littleton, C.J. Minnick, Michael Hyatt, Jordan Shepard, Cody Rush, and Kelby Sneyd. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Moore, Richard Godsey, James Carr, and Dave Ingram.
Our dad was a Godly man, he was loved dearly and will truly be missed.
