Richard Stubblefield Obituary

GRAY - Richard Keith Stubblefield Sr., 68, of Gray, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by family.

Rick was the son of the late Wanda Marie (Pierce) Wisecarver and James Robert Stubblefield Sr. and lived almost all of his life in East Tennessee. He was originally from Whitesburg, TN.

Rick Graduated from Bulls Gap High School and earned a Master of Science in Economics from East Tennessee State University. Among his professions, he has been a Sergeant in the United States Army, a professor of economics, a business owner, electronics technician, and tax preparer. He was especially fond of his time with Heartland Payment Systems where he finished a career of 20 years in purchasing and audit compliance and met Christine and many lifelong friends.

Rick was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as a leader, trainer, and District Committee member in Sequoyah Council for many years. He was a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and a Three Bead Woodbadger from SR 156. He was a lifelong fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers Football team and the Lady Vols Basketball team and could most often be found wearing something with the Volunteer T on it.

Rick was a devout Christian and a member of Hope Church in Gray along with Christine. He shared his faith freely and praised God in all things.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Christine Stubblefield; his brother, James Robert Stubblefield Jr.; five children, Rick Stubblefield Jr. and his wife Naomi, Rachel Dolge and her husband Roy, Jessica Ann Myers, Nicholas Myers, and Garrett Myers; five grandchildren, Tracy Ann Wexler, Alayah Burks, Rowen Dolge, Liam Dolge, and Nicholas Coleman.

A graveside committal service will be held for Richard Stubblefield at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Johnson City, TN. Family and friends wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 10:50 am.

My prayers and sympathy go out to all of Rick´s family. I met Rick while he worked at Heartland Payment Systems. He could not have been nicer or more helpful to me, which I have always appreciated. My deepest sympathy to all of you.
