UNICOI - Ray A. Sneyd, 81, Unicoi, died Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at his residence, following a lengthy illness.

Ray was a lifelong resident of the Limestone Cove Community of Unicoi. He was a son of the late Pleasey and Bertha Mae Campbell Sneyd.

Ray was formerly employed with Hoover Ball, Inc., and following his retirement, worked many years as a self-employed Carpenter with his home repair service.

He was a member of Limestone Cove Freewill Baptist Church.

Ray enjoyed hunting, spending time in the mountains, and spending time with friends, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family and his little dog Ginny. His face would always light up when he was with his granddaughter, Raysha.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Larry Berry, and a nephew, Mark Berry.

Those left to cherish Ray's memory include his wife of sixty years, Trula Berry Sneyd; his daughters, Debbie Jones and husband Randy, Donna White and husband Norman; his granddaughter, Raysha Ferguson and husband Stephen; his brother-in-law, Henry Berry; his nieces, Angie Graham and Crystal Steins; his great-nephews, Draven Graham and Axel Stines; his brother, Lee Sneyd; his sisters, Peggy Stevens and Geraldine Love; several other family members and many friends.

The family would like to send a special "thank you" to the Gentiva Hospice nurses, caregivers, and staff for their love and excellent care given to Ray during his illness.

The funeral service for Ray will be conducted Friday, April 19, 2024, at 7:00 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Dexter Brummitt, officiating.

The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.

The graveside committal service will be held Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in Berry Family Cemetery. Those planning to attend are to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 A.M. Saturday.
