Randolph Brewer Obituary

Randolph (Randy) Kelly Brewer

October 27, 1953 -

December 21, 2025

JOHNSON CITY - Randolph (Randy) Kelly Brewer, 72, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center on Saturday, December 21, 2025.

Born on October 27, 1953 in Wytheville, Va, Randy was the beloved son of the late Harold V. Brewer and Gladys M. Blakenship Brewer. Though born in Virginia, Randy made his home in Johnson City, Tennessee, where he spent most of his life.

A proud graduate of Science Hill High School, Randy worked for CSX Railroad for over 30 years, retiring as a valued member of the Bridge and Building Department. Known as "Mushy" by his colleagues, he took great pride in his work as a crane operator and welder, earning the respect and affection of those who worked alongside him. Randy was not just skilled with his hands – he was an inventor at heart, constantly creating tools to make his passion for tinkering with cars easier. A lifelong lover of welding, he could be found in his workshop, crafting something new or perfecting his beloved Z car.

Randy has a special place in his heart for his cats, who brought him great joy, and for his family – especially his nephews and nieces, who always had plenty of laughs when he was around. His mischievous spirit, infectious laughter, and warm personality made him a memorable character to all who knew him. Randy's wit and humor will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, two nephews, Robbie Neal Campbell and Timothy Ross Campbell; brother-in-law, Tony Campbell; and great-nephew Karson Ford Griffith.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Danny (Connie) Brewer; Sisters Kristy (Pat) Weber and Sherry Brewer Campbell; along with nephews Scott (Tonya) Brewer, Andy (Lauren) Weber, and Brandon (Carrie) Weber; his nieces, Kassidy (John) Cunningham, Kimberly Brewer Maggart, and April (Tim) Campbell Leonard; Great-Nephews, Colt (Taylor) Brewer, Dakota Brewer, Bryson Griffith; and Great-nieces Violet Leonard and Evie Cunningham.

The family will welcome friends to share memories and celebrate Randy's life on Wednesday, December 31, 20251 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services in Johnson City, with Speaker Daniel Ferrell officiating. Burial will take place immediately after at Monte Vista Memorial Park in the garden of Sermon on the Mount. Pallbearers will include Brandon Weber, Andy Weber, Pat Weber, and Kevin Barnett.

Randy and I were classmates. We shared many home rooms over the years with our last names starting with B and had some good times. So sorry to hear of his passing. May God provide you the strength to navigate the grief and sorry that accompanies the loss of a loved one.
