Phyllis "Kay" Ledford October 31, 1951 - April 15, 2024
Phyllis "Kay" Ledford, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Vanderbilt Hospital surrounded by her two loving sons. She was born to the late Mack and Bessie Ramsey on October 31, 1951, in Unicoi, TN.
Kay treasured her family more than anything in this world and was married to the love of her life, Landa, for 52 years. Theirs is a beautiful love story that began with a double date at the Appalachian fair and developed into two lifelong best friends whose affection for one another was greater than words could express. Kay's greatest pride was in her family - her sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, whom she loved tremendously.
Kay found joy in the simple pleasures of life. It was rare that she did not have a good book or her latest crochet project in hand. She was always up for an adventure into town or to a local festival. She never tired of nightly dates with her sweetheart watching the latest installment of their favorite shows.
Kay was a bold, feisty, and fiercely loving woman. Her wide smile and loud laughter filled every room. She was the world's greatest advocate, both for herself and her loved ones. She overcame every obstacle to support and care for her husband and family.
Kay is survived by the love of her life, William "Orlanda" Ledford; her two beloved sons Scott (Tracie) and Jeff (Jenn); her four grandchildren Lauren, Drew, Addison, and Noah; her brother Roger Ramsey (Mariann); and lifelong friends Carmen and Jim Randolph.
The family will have a graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery, located at 1100 7th Street, Erwin, TN, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 12:00 pm with Pastor Donnie Humphrey officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the children's ministry at River of Life Baptist Church, where Landa and Kay have been members for many years, or to the International Foundation for CDKL5 Research, in honor of her grandson Noah.
