ELIZABETHTON - Perry W. Perkins, 77, of Elizabethton passed away on Thursday December 26th, 2024 at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born in Lancaster, PA and raised in Mountain City by the late Emmett and Pearl Parsons.

Perry graduated from Johnson County High School where he was an outstanding football player. He then went on to join the Air Force where he served his country proudly. Perry moved to Elizabethton after marrying his wife, Jacklin. He attended Elizabethton Business College and worked as an insurance agent for many years and at many different insurance agencies such as Home Beneficial, Farm Bureau, Metlife, and Allstate. Perry loved sports. He coached his girls softball teams, youth football and kept the books for basketball for many years. He was a member of the united EMMAUS community and Kairos Prison Ministry. Perry and Jackie enjoyed attending Pleasant Beach Baptist Church. He enjoyed his JCHS class reunions and spending time with classmates.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jacklin Perkins of the home; two daughters, Jamie Perkins and Paula Perkins Cohen, her husband Eddy and their two children, Mason and Kaia; a half-brother, Melvin Lefever and wife Terry; as well as several other family members and close friends.

A celebration of Perry's life will be held on Monday December 30th, at 1:30 pm at Tetrick Funeral Home in Elizabethton with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until the time of the service. The graveside service will be held following the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park in the Mausoleum of Faith. Active pallbearers will be Greg Austin, Jim Caldwell, Gerald Cassell, Andy Crockett, Len Dugger, and Harvey Mitchell. Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Johnny Bingham, Elvin Brown, Richard Hyder, Tim Timbs, Eddie Carver, Chris Mathes, James Crouch and Kevin Lewis.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may donate to Pleasant Beach Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Hermitage Health Care for their loving care.

Perry seemed to always be at the top of his game. He was great at football player and an excellent Track star as well. If he started near the front he was uncatchable. He was a good friend and he showed sincere interest at what was said in a discussion or conversation. He will most certainly be missed. Dear family please know that you are in my prayers. May God bless and keep you all.
