Paul Frederick Haynes

December 13, 2025

Paul Frederick Haynes passed away December 13, 2025, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1946, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the late US Army Capt. (Ret) Clifford L. Haynes Jr. and Anna E. Kugler. He was a graduate of Parkland High School, El Paso, Texas where he joined the US Naval Reserve in 1965 and served on active duty from 1966-1969. He was honorably discharged as a Pattern Maker 2nd Class.

He graduated with an associate degree in drafting design technology from Northeast State Community College. He was a Master Cabinet Maker and a Master Carpenter and had worked at Main Street Wood Shop, Kingsport, TN

He was a Founding Member of the Mountain Empire Model Railroad Club. Paul's hobbies were traveling, taking pictures of nature and trains, and he loved to work on his train diorama. He was also a published photographer of trains. He was of the Baha'i faith.

He married the love of his life, Beverly Kay Hankins of Elizabethton, in 1980. He is preceded in death by both his parents and brother Clifford L. Haynes III. He leaves behind his wife, Kay of 45 years, brother Ralph (Jane) Haynes of Elizabethton, TN, and sister Janet (Chuck) Guyett of Rutledge, TN, 2 cousins, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the care given to Paul by DaVita Dialysis staff, Dr. Martin Tran and Dr. Lara Kfoury. Others caring for Paul were NP Melissa Leake, PA David Knechtel, and Dr. John Swisher.

Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.memorialcelizabethton.com. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Memorial Funeral Chapel, 212 N. Main St. Elizabethton, TN 37643 to help defray the funeral expenses.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Elizabethton, TN.

Graveside service will be held Monday, December 22, 2025, 1:00 pm, Mountain Home National Cemetery, 53 Memorial Ave, Mountain Home, TN 37684.

Paul was a major contributor in the construction of our home in Boones Creek. We truly appreciated his fine work and his remarkable upbeat personality. We always enjoyed seeing him around town after completion of home.
