Patti Jo Birchfield

JOHNSON CITY - Patti Jo Birchfield, age 64 of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with Liver Disease. She was born on April 12, 1961 to the late Joe and Ella Mae Rash in Johnson City. Patti was a graduate of Science Hill class of 1979.

Patti will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and "grammy" She adored her husband, sons, daughters-in-law, especially her grandchildren, fiercely.

Dedicated and compassionate, she was a devoted banker for 28 years, serving in various capacities at Hamilton, SunTrust, and Truist. She built lasting relationships with her clients, many of whom became her dear friends. Her integrity and warmth defined her years in banking and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She was a devoted member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church, where she faithfully served for many years. Her strong faith guided her life and was evident in the way she cared for others and lived out her beliefs each day.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Bessie Stout, and aunt, Margaret "Sissie" Potter.

Left to cherish her memory are her faithful husband of 43 years, Charlie Birchfield, sons, Ryan (Whitney) Birchfield, and Seth (Erin) Birchfield; grandchildren, Emmy, Cooper, and Oakley Birchfield, brother, Mike (Phyllis) Rash, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also special friends Kay Napier and Diane Barnett.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many caregivers that helped care for Patti for many years during her lengthy illness. The family would also like to express thanks to Dr. Izzy and the Vanderbilt Hepatology and Palliative Care teams.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Grace Freewill Baptist Church, 2110 A Knob Creek Rd. Johnson City, TN, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral service will be immediately following at 7:00pm with her longtime pastor and friend, Curtis Hurt and David Foster officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 12 noon in Monte Vista Memorial Park. All attending are asked to meet at the cemetery no later than 11:50am.

Active pallbearers will be chosen by the family. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Mosier, Shea Cox, Jerry Barnett and Corey Volkman.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Grace Freewill Baptist Church.
