JOHNSON CITY - Dr. Michael Louis Gosey, 64, of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on June 9th, 2023. Michael was the son of the late James and Elaine Gosey. He was born in Catonsville, Maryland, and was the youngest of his two siblings, James and Linda. Michael's family spent their summers in Sherwood Forest, Maryland, making lasting memories of enjoying sports, boating, fishing, and parties with many friends and family. After graduating from Catonsville High School, he attended and graduated from the University of Maryland for undergraduate and Medical School.
In 1990, Michael married the love of his life, Annette. Michael and Annette shared a deep and committed love, and together raised the lights of their lives, Samantha and Blaine. Michael was a proud husband, and an even prouder father and grandfather. While successful in his career, his love for his family always came first. In the most recent years of his life, he cherished being "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren.
Michael is survived by his wife of 33 years, Annette; daughter, Samantha Merrill and her husband Barrett; son, Blaine "Buddy" Gosey and his wife Madeline; grandchildren, Naomi Gosey and Levi Merrill; brother, Dr. James "Jim" Gosey; and sister, Linda Gosey.
Michael practiced Medicine for over 30 years where he brought his caring heart and personality to each of his patients in both his practice of Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Care. In addition to practicing medicine in Mississippi, Tennessee, and North Carolina, Michael volunteered his time to help provide medical care and training throughout the world, especially in the countries of Haiti, Uganda, Belize, and Honduras.
Michael was known by many as a man who loved his family, the ocean, rock 'n roll music, basketball, and most important to him, Jesus. His love for God and others led him to serve many people throughout his life. He will be greatly missed by so many.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at Grace Meadows Church in Jonesborough, TN.
Michael loved to support the work of Life Light Missions Uganda and Samaritan's Purse. If anyone feels led to give a gift to honor Michael, his family asks that either of these organizations be considered.

Fondly remember Mike from College Park (undergrad) and Med School, bonding over Van Halen & Bball. He got mad at my then girlfriend (now wife of 42 yrs) Susan for trying to talk me out of going to Med School ! Annette, if you read this shoot me an email. I'd love to talk to you once things settle down. I am thrilled to hear that Michael found Jesus, as I did after med school. I've been to Ecuador 5x on medical mission trips
