Michael Harrell Compton

GRAY - Michael Harrell Compton, 64, Gray, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 11, 2024, at his residence.

He was born in Sullivan County and was a son of Mary A. Compton Bowman and the late James Harrell Compton.

Mike was of Baptist faith. He was a graduate of Science Hill High School. Mike was a Veteran of the United States Air Force. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and telling hunting stories.

In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his stepfather, Gary Bowman; paternal grandparents, Erving and Madge Compton; maternal grandparents, Todd and Lucille Kitzmiller; uncle, James Kitzmiller; and aunt, Lillian Ratliff.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his brother, Mark Compton (Sonya); stepsister, Stacey Chess; nephews, Hunter Compton (Lyndsey), Dylan Compton (Brianna), Dakota Whitson; great nieces, Addy, Ember, and Brailynn Compton; aunt, Brenda Cowan; uncle, Charles Ratliff; several cousins; best-bud, Monkey; special friends, Joanne Lane, Ronnie Ford, Chris Ford, and Scott Worsham.

The graveside service for Mike will be held Monday, November 25, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in Fordtown Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. David Guinn, officiating. Pallbearers will be chosen from friends and family. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50 a.m.
