JOHNSON CITY - Mary Lee Campbell, 88, Johnson City, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Abundant Christian Living Community, following a lengthy illness.
Mary Lee was a native of the Washington College Community of Washington County and had been a resident of Johnson City for the past seventy years. She was a daughter of the late Vestal and Jessie Duncan Ball.
Mary Lee attended Washington College Academy until her Senior year when she and her family moved to Johnson City and she transferred to Science Hill High School, graduating in 1954.
Mary Lee worked as a Real Estate Agent with Century 21, Coldwell Banker, and for several years with Re/Max, where she retired in 2002.
She was a member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church, and formerly attended Keystone Free Will Baptist Church and Guaranda Drive Baptist Church, serving as the pianist for both.
Mary Lee loved flowers, working in her flower gardens, and was an avid piano player.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.W. "Dub" Campbell, in 2019, a brother, Vestal Ball, Jr., and a sister, Madeline Brooks.
Mary Lee is survived by her two sons, Ricky Campbell and wife Charity, Randy Campbell and wife Michelle, all of Johnson City; three grandchildren, Chris, Colt and Kacie Campbell, all of Johnson City; one brother, Jerry Ball and wife Barbara, New Oxford, PA; one sister, Elizabeth Stepp and husband Arthur, Bon Aire, GA; several nieces, nephews, and her best friend and fellow Realtor, Doris Hale.
The family would like to extend a very special "Thank You" to the staff and nurses of Abundant Christian Living Community and its rehabilitation for the excellent care given to Mary Lee during her stay.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Mary Lee will be conducted Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 6:30 P.M., from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, with Rev. Curtis Hurt and Rev. David Foster, officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 5:00-6:30 P.M. in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
The graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in Monte Vista Memorial Park, with Rev. T.J. Hoss officiating. Pallbearers will be sons Ricky and Randy Campbell, grandchildren Chris, Colt and Kacie Campbell, family friends Roger Hayes and Robert Leonard. Those planning to attend are requested to meet at the funeral home by 9:30 A.M. Thursday to proceed to the cemetery.
Those who prefer to make memorial contributions in-lieu-of flowers are asked to do so to Grace Free Will Baptist Church, 2110 Knob Creek Rd. A, Johnson City, TN, 37604.
