ELIZABETHTON - Larry Steve Emmert, 75, Elizabethton, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in the Hillview Health Center. He was born December 13, 1947 in Carter County to the late Benick and Marilyn Culler Emmert. He was a graduate of Happy Valley High School. Larry was a former employee of North American Rayon Corporation and Color Works. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238, Knoxville Scottish Rite and Jericho Shriners. He was a member of Big Springs Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Vaughn Simerly, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Judy Emmert.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sharon McKinney Emmert; daughter, Julia Simerly; grandson, Justin Simerly; a sister, Charlotte (Wayne) Jones; brother, Benick Gordon Emmert; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and her husband, Lori & Ben Watson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jim Holtsclaw officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Justin Simerly, Ben Watson, Larry McKinney, Sammy McKinney, Joey McNeil and Wayne Jones. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Gordon Williams, and Greg Johnson. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238 following the funeral service. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Hillview Health Center. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home prior to the service.
