Larry Eugene Baines October 4, 1946- June 27, 2024
WARDSVILLE, MO - Larry Eugene Baines, 77, of Wardsville passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Heisinger Bluffs in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born October 4, 1946 in Johnson City, Tennessee the son of Marvin and Beryl (Garber) Baines, who preceded him in death. He was married to Barbara (Hess) Baines May 29, 1981 in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Larry graduated from Lamar High School in Jonesborough, Tennessee and then attended college at East Tennessee State University. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam era. He worked for United Telephone in Johnson City and Bristol, Tennessee, and Sprint Telephone in Raleigh, North Carolina. He then became the Director of Operations for Sprint in Jefferson City, Missouri retiring in 2005 with 35 years of service. Larry loved to golf and took great pride in working in his yard. He was an avid fan of the University of Tennessee and loved sports. Larry was also a member at Concord Baptist Church and a member of Redfield Golf Course until his heath declined. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Larry is survived by his wife Barbara; two sons, CPO Larry Curtis Baines US Navy Retired of Suffolk, Virginia and Robert Sean Baines of Jonesborough, Tennessee; daughter Brittany Nicole Baines (Jason Pecaut) of Jefferson City, Missouri; three brothers, Tom (Kay) Baines of Jonesborough, Tennessee, Dennis (Joan) Baines of Johnson City, Tennessee and Jeff Baines also of Johnson City, Tennessee; sister, Kathy Dobosz of Johnson City, Tennessee; Grandchildren Coty Martin, Ashley (Kendall) Broyles, Tristin Martin, Peyton Baines, Nathan Baines, Harper Pecaut and Dash Pecaut; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, April Diane Baines and 2 sisters, Judy Hyman-Phillips and Janet Baines.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Heisinger Bluffs for their loving care for Larry over the last few months, to Dr. Michael Chicoine, MD and Dr. Morgan Schiermeier, MD.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Take Heart Ministries or Central Missouri Honor Flight.
Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Concord Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors.
