JOHNSON CITY - Edwin Atlee Long died on February 24, 2025, at his home in Johnson City, Tennessee, after a long illness. Edwin was born In Johnson City on May 27, 1939, to Dr. Carroll Hardy Long and Lou Ann Strong Long. He graduated from Asheville School for Boys and East Tennessee State University and worked for twenty years as a reagent chemist. He grew up in First United Methodist Church in Johnson City and later was active in the Holston Valley Unitarian Universalist Church. Edwin had a great curiosity about all things and was devoted to his family who loved him dearly. He donated his body to the ETSU Quillen College of Medicine. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Carol Ann Long, Mary Hardy Long Frank, and Jane Wells Long Hardin, his niece Carroll Atlee Hardin, and nephews James McCullough Hardin and Christian Sean Lovejoy. He is survived by his sister Frances Lucinda Long (Kirk Jeffrey) and brother Jerome Edward Long (Anne Lovejoy), nine nieces and nephews, and his partner Mickey Addleman and her children Zachary, Elias, Joanna, and Sarah. The family is forever grateful for the loving companionship and care given to Edwin in his last year by his nephew Ernst Karel. A family memorial service was held on May 31, 2025.
