ERWIN - Kenneth "Pete" Petterson, age 78, Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at home after a brief illness. He was born in Aurora, IL and was a son of the late Kenneth and Mary McSweeney Petterson.
Prior to Pete's retirement, he was employed as a locomotive engineer at CSX. He loved to play tennis and share a meal with fellow railroad retirees. Folks knew that when they saw Pete coming, they were in store for a laugh or two. He loved his family and was an amazing father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Lou Petterson and one sister, Carolyn Petterson Popkin Mulvanity.
Pete leaves behind two sons: John Petterson (Heather), Erwin and Jay Petterson (Michael), Seattle, WA; four grandchildren: Abigail Petterson, Allison Petterson, Winnie Mattmiller Petterson and Wilson Mattmiller Petterson; one brother Werner Petterson (Sue), Chicago, IL; and several nephews.
No service will be held at this time. Committal for Pete and Lou will be held at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery.
