JOHNSON CITY - Kathy Ann Barnett, age 70, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at the Abundant Christian Living of Johnson City, TN. She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Everett Barnett and Betty Taylor Barnett.

Kathy was a 1973 graduate of Happy Valley High School where she was voted in Senior Superlative as Most Intellectual. On December 23, 1975 she married Cleave Malone Barnett and spent 49 years of marriage together. She was a member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church where she loved singing with her husband. She was a homemaker and loved taking walks, reading, listening to oldies music, and watching classic tv shows.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Cleave Malone Barnett; two daughters, Valda Gouge and Vivian Townsend; one sister, Karen Hale; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith Barnett and wife Kelley; one nephew, Ethan Barnett; two nieces, Lauren Hooker and Angela Barnett; special friend and neighbor, Rhonda Jenkins; family friend, Michelle McRee; and special cat, Frisky.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 12:45 PM at Monte Vista Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dexter Brummit and Rev. Howard Ray officiating. Music will be provided by Barbara Smith and Lora Lowe. Committal Service and Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in the Garden of the Last Supper at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Searls III, Ethan Barnett, Bryan Fillers, Terry Bennett, Mike Blair, Bill Campbell, Johnny Hilton and David Holtzclaw.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Abundant Christian Living for all the love and care that was shown.
