Joyce Anderson Obituary

Joyce Ann Anderson

January 8, 1940 -

January 28, 2025

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Joyce Ann Anderson, joined her Lord and Savior and family at the age of 85. Joyce was born January 8, 1940 in Carter County to the late Ollie and Helen (McQueen) Smith. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded also in death by a brother, Bill Smith.

Joyce retired from Kroger Grocery Store after 20 plus years of service and had also worked for Howard Brother's Department Store. Joyce was a dedicated housewife and loved her family and friends dearly. She enjoyed antiquing on her many shopping trips to Bristol with her niece, Elaine Matherly, loved collecting owl figurines and just sitting in the sunshine. Joyce will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish and remember Joyce include her husband of 66 years, Paul Anderson of the home; two sons, Jeffrey (Janet) Anderson of Jonesborough and Richard (Debra) Anderson of Limestone; four grandchildren, Eric Gross and wife Kristie of Gray, Michelle Gross of Jonesborough, Jerry Mosier and wife Kim of Johnson City and Chris Mosier and wife Tammy of Afton; four great grandchildren, Tatum Gross and husband Mario, Presley Gross, Colton Gross and Asher Gross; a brother, Richard Smith and his wife Libby and Libby's sister, Sue Warr all of Johnson City; and a sister, Eva (Gene) Grindstaff of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A committal and entombment service to celebrate and honor Joyce's life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 in the Mausoleum of Faith at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Robert Johnson officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:50 PM on Saturday.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations in memory of Joyce to Middle Creek Church of God, 3505 Middle Creek Road, Afton, TN 37616.
