John W. McClain November 6, 1940- June 2, 2024
JOHNSON CITY - John W. McClain, 83, of Johnson City, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center. He was born November 6, 1940, in Butler, TN and was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Signal Corps Division. He was the Safety and Security Director for Mor-Flo Industries, where he worked for 30 years. John was an avid gardener and collector of rocks and gems. He enjoyed photography, watching Westerns, country music, and was a lake enthusiast for much of his life. Before his declining health, John attended Fountain of Life Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry McClain and Della Lambert McClain Daniels; stepfather Roby G. Daniels, Sr.; son Jeff T. McClain; and half-brother Roby G. Daniels, Jr.
Survivors include daughter Kimberly Christenberry (Jim), Butler, TN; Tara Sizemore (Ben), Johnson City, TN; stepson Alex Williams (Marisa), Nashville, TN; grandchildren Jeffrey Grindstaff, Unicoi, TN; Maya and Paxton Sizemore, Johnson City, TN; and special friend, Linda Arnold.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park on Elizabethton Hwy. in Johnson City. For those wishing to arrive for the processional to the cemetery, you may join the family at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton at 10:20 a.m. Pallbearers will be selected from family friends.
