James Neece Obituary

James Calvin Neece

October 18, 2025

James Calvin Neece, 83, went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Dorsie and Lydia Neece, his brother Jack Neece and sisters, Grace Fuller, Madge Bailey, and Deana Fox. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his son and daughter-in-law Brian and Chrisha Neece, and grandchildren, Taylor and Ashton Wilson, Cadie, Emily, and Calvin Neece, Hank and Lily Sauer, a special niece Diana Fox. Also survived by step-children, Vicky Vest, George and Patricia Lewis, Luis Vasquez, Michael and Wandy Vasquez, Jason and Kim Hall, Keith and Kim Hall, many step-grand and great grandchildren, and special friends, Nancy Weaver, and Ava Skeans, Donna Cox, and James Cox.

Jim was a member of the Watauga First Church of God, where he had many friends. He was a veteran having served in the Army as a combat engineer during the Vietnam era. Jim served his community as a businessman for many years, establishing several stores, including Mr. J's Furniture, an equipment rental shop, pawn shop, as well as a landscaping business. In these last few years he worked for the Washington County Convenience Center at Lamar.

Always active, Jim gave much to his community. He will be remembered as a good, hard-working man. He is also described as faithful, generous, kind, fair, and compassionate, always ready and willing to help his fellow man, and loved by all who knew him.

His family wishes to extend a special thanks to Amedisys Hospice, particularly to Randy and Steven, and to Cornerstone Caregiving, especially caregivers Bria and Michelle. Thank you for all you did to make Jim comfortable and add quality to his life. Most of, we thank Jesus for eternal life and the assurance of seeing our beloved husband and father again. A date for a Celebration of Life will be set at the Watauga Church. Arrangements for cremation are being made by Kiser-Rose Hill Funeral Home.

I am sorry to hear about Uncle Calvin“s passing. Growing up, we would visit Granny and Papaw and he always took time to do funny things to make us laugh. When my daughter was a little girl, he teased her about her baby doll who was in rough shape from wear and tear. He although we grew apart after the passing of our grandparents, he was loved. My thoughts and prayers for peace and comfort are with all of his family. Lisa Neece Peavey
