GRAY - James "Roy" Hammonds, age 76, of Gray, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
A lifelong resident of Washington County, Roy was born October 20, 1946, in Johnson City to the late James Ely Hammonds and Mary Margaret Davidson Hammonds.
He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Roy loved walking and he was known for walking many miles all over the Tri-Cities.
In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Willis.
He is survived by two brothers, Clay Hammonds of Gray and Bill Hammonds of Limestone and special caregiver, Teresa Butler.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Vanessa and Becca with Amedisys Hospice for their care and support.
Roy's family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A funeral will immediately follow, beginning at 6:00 pm, under the direction of Pastor Jim Perkins. A committal service will commence at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Those wishing to attend are asked to please meet at the cemetery by 9:50 am.
