In Loving Memory

A Celebration of a life well lived

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dr. Rev. James Harold Campbell, who departed this life on December 9, 2025 at the age of 82. Born on January 14, 1943 in the Milligan area to Jim and Learly Byrd Campbell. Harold touched the lives of all who knew him with kindness, grace, and the unwavering love of his Savior.

Harold was the cherished husband of Zelma Radford Campbell for 58 years. He was the wonderful father of Angela (Bryan) Smith and Alisha Campbell. He doted on his grandchildren Callie Smith, Austin Smith, Rev., Matt Smith, Chris Smith, Stephen McVey and Danansi Kouamé. His great-grandchildren includes Cora Smith, Levi Smith, Callie Austin, Rowan Smith and Dylan Smith.

Harold was known for his generosity, sense of humor, dedication to family, and to God, and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion.

He retired from the Johnson City Medical Center. Outside of work, Harold had a passion for studying the Bible and fishing, and especially had a talent for fixing things others were done with!

Harold is survived by his wife, his daughters and son-in-law, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Nave, Mary Bowman, Maxine Carver, Matilda Sue Stroupe, Marlena Ferguson and Melinda Vance Pierce. His brothers were Jerry Campbell, Joe Campbell and Johnny Campbell.

Rev. Harold Campbell pastured many churches throughout the area including West Park St. Free Will Baptist Church, Little Mountain Baptist Church, Boring Chapel and Fish Springs Baptist Church. He founded and was faithful to The Praying Mountain Men every Thursday night beginning in 1985.

A Service to Celebrate the life of Harold will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Decem-ber 14, 2025 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dean Presnell and Rev. Bryan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be by the True Gospel Trio. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honora-ble pallbearers include his family in Christ from True Gospel Baptist Church, The Praying Mountain Men, and his many friends. Brother Harold will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched he is now with our Lord and King. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
