LIMESTONE - Hilda "Kitten" Pruitt, age 92, died peacefully in her home at Limestone, surrounded by family, on Tuesday. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her spark would light up any room, she was kind, and big hearted - always putting Jesus and her family first.
She was a lifelong member of Limestone United Methodist Church. She enjoyed watching her bluebirds and hummingbirds, checking on the cows, and having her weekly fish - all the way till the end. She will be greatly missed, but her family is thankful she is at peace, at home with Jesus, and dancing with Rex, where her heart has always been.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years: Rex Pruitt; parents: D.L. and Edith Remine; siblings: Agnes Keifer, John Remine, and Francis Remine.
Survivors include her children: Pattie (Steve) Flowers, Jeanine (David) Carroll, and Steven (Wendy) Pruitt; brother: E.C. (Sylvia) Remine; sister-in-law: Mollie Pruitt; grandchildren: Shane Daugherty, Shannon (Renzo) Mendez, Schuyler (Casey) Legg, Megan (Hunter) Searson, Madison (Sean) Hamilton, and Mackenzie Pruitt; bonus grandchildren: Nick Flowers and Bryce Flowers; great-grandchildren: Willa Jean Legg, Thatcher Legg; bonus great-grandchildren: Sophia Flowers and Ivanna Mendez; several nieces and nephews; special nieces: Jennifer Moore, Mary Jane Gray, and Anne Tinker; special nephew: Tom Keifer; special friend and caregiver: Elsie Johnson.
The family will receive friends at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home from 5 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, December 7th. Funeral services will follow at 7 o'clock Sunday evening in the Doughty-Stevens Chapel with Pastor Steven Pruitt officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Urbana Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday for the committal service.
Active pallbearers will be Casey Legg, Hunter Searson, Sean Hamilton, Wil Moore, Adam Tinker, Nathan Gray, Reuben Cobble, and Richard Cobble. Honorary pallbearers will be Shane Daugherty, Nick Flowers, Bryce Flowers, Renzo Mendez, and Charles Corby.

So sorry to see that Hilda passed. Hilda was a pillow of the community and kind for all who knew her. Hilda and Margaret Huffman sent my wife and I a congratulation card when graduated from College. You don´t know how much a small gesture like that meant to my wife and I. We were so surprised to receive them in the mail because we didn´t know how they knew we were even going. Condolences to the friends and family of Hilda. She will truly be missed, Wassan and Vickie Broyles and family.
