CONCORD, NC - Gladys Marie (Bacon) Butler, 80 formerly of Limestone, TN went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 27th, 2023, while residing in Concord, NC.
Gladys was born on July 21st, 1943, in Owego, NY to parents Eugene and Doris (Harris) Bacon. One of five children, Gladys' childhood shaped her in the feisty woman we remember today. In her younger years Gladys was a member of the Weltonville Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary. In 1994 Gladys moved to Tennessee where she made a home in Limestone. Becoming a member at Sulphur Springs Methodist Church in Jonesborough she focused on her relationship with the Lord.
Gladys has been widowed three times, Donald Casterline in 1981, Raymond Rodgers in 1993, and Clark Butler in 2022.
Gladys was also proceeded in death by her parents Eugene and Doris, as well as sisters Gloria, Margaret, and Rula.
She is survived by her daughter Beth (Mark) Jackson of Concord, NC; son Donald (Lori) Casterline, of Limestone, TN; grandchildren, Jessy (Derek) Lash, Melissa (Ryan) Thor, Terrie (John) App, and Andrew Casterline; six great grandchildren Landon Lash, Kyleigh Adler-Lash, Logan Lash, Kentlee Lash, Harrison Thor, and Ellarose Thor. The babies as she called them always brought her so much joy. Brother, Billy Bacon.
Those that know Gladys will remember her spunky personality, her love of windchimes, jewelry/gems, and flowers along with her will to work hard to make sure her needs and wants were met here on Earth.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday December 8th, 2023, at Mountain Home National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with Clark Butler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sulphur Springs Methodist Church, 1432 Gray Station Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.
