ELIZABETHTON - George Roger Stevenson, 79, Elizabethton, when home to be with his Lord Tuesday, September 19, 2023 in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born October 17, 1943, in Elizabethton to the late Buster & Belle Mae Guinn Stevenson. George was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. He had served in the Tennessee National Guard. George was a self-employed home builder. He was a member of the Riverview Baptist Church where he was Teacher of the Fellowship Hall Sunday School Class for 14 years.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joyce Fair Stevenson; one son, Doug (Cindy) Stevenson, Elizabethton; one daughter, Paige (Brad) Sproles, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Tessa (Colby) Edds and Caitlyn Gardner; and his brother-in-law, Tommy (Debbie) Fair, Elizabethton.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Grubb officiating. Entombment Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2023, in the Mausoleum of Faith, Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Sunday will be: Doug Stevenson, John Colbaugh, Keith Morley, Jerry Proffitt, Alan Scalf, Tim Pierce and Brad Sproles. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of his Sunday School Class, Church Family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 211 Center Park Drive, Suite 3010, Knoxville, TN. 37922. The family would like to express a special thank you to the ICU Cardiac Unit of Johnson City Medical Center for the support given to them.
