JOHNSON CITY - Fidel Barron, beloved husband of Rachel Barron of 70 years, originally from El Paso, TX passed away after a lengthy illness in Johnson City, on May 27, 2023, at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his parents Aurelio and Concepcion Barron, his two brothers Dom and Ray Barron, and he is survived by 1 sister, Irma Alba and 2 brothers, Mario and Carlos Barron.
Fidel graduated from El Paso High School and attended the University of Texas at El Paso. Mr. Barron was employed by the El Paso Natural Gas Company and retired after 35 years of service in 1994.
Through the years, He served as volunteer helping students in the public school system as a youth representative, a mentor in his church, and as a United Way Volunteer. He established the "The Church with a Warm Heart" representing Asbury Methodist in El Paso and attended Wesley Memorial Methodist Church while living in Johnson City, TN
In addition to his cherished wife, his memory includes three daughters, Ivy Blair, Monica Duncan and Cindy Rhodes. 11 grandchildren, including Myrna Gibbs, Stephanie Lynch, David Blair, April Painter, Abigail De-Gouveia, Daniel Blair, Seneka Cothren, West Duncan, Austin Duncan, Billy Rhodes and Travis Rhodes, as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 24, 2023 in the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City with Pastor Elijah Gibbs officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a Memorial donation be made to the YWCA of El Paso, endowment fund in the name of "Presciliana Torres-Renteria" YWCA El Paso Del Norte Region 1600 North Brown El Paso, TX 79902 (915-533-2311)
