Evelyn Jeanette (Peters) Ford, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Chapman Peters and Jama (Derofield) Peters. She is preceded in death by her late husband Jacob (Jake) Ford; her brothers Tommy Peters and Jerry Peters; and her sister Dora Jean Peters.
She leaves her son, Daniel Ford and his wife, Autumn (Hall) Ford; two grandchildren, Preston and Caden Ford; and many nieces and nephews all over the Tri-Cities area. She is survived by her brother Larry Peters and wife Carolyn.
Evelyn was extremely family oriented with loved ones affectionately referring to her as "Sissy". She was a generous person, often giving people sweet cards and other gifts. She also appreciated every gift and card that was given to her as her house was full of items gifted to her from others. She loved to laugh and often said that funny things were always happening to her, and she probably needed to write a book about her life. She shared a special bond with her son which carried on to her grandsons, especially her "shopping buddy" Preston. She loved to take pictures and being able to get her camera to work became an annual laugh. She loved to entertain and made it her job to make sure everyone was comfortable, well fed, and well hydrated in her presence.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 2:00pm until the time of memorial services beginning at 4:00pm at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna, TN. An online guestbook is available for the Ford family at www.woodfinchapel.com.

My bowling sister. She was good but never thought so.Evelyn & I shared so many years of laughter & trips together, She & Jake to Falls Creek Falls for a beautiful day out. Fun & food opening. Evelyn was such a good listener, never judging but careing.More like a sister to me. People we met thought we were sisters. We did flea markets, trips to East Tenn for a week of vacation & meeting her family there, going to the State fair with her boys, Preston & Caden taking in rides, seeing train exhibits & all food we could eat each year. I loved our craft fun together always laughing even got Jake in on art work. She had a heart bigger than most, so unselfish. We shared birthdays & Christmas gifting & we could always expect Evelyn to include coupon clippings & Cris' favorite box of choc. Covered candy cherries. We looked for clothing that matched. She loved pretty clothes & jewelry. Its so hard to say goodbye to a sweet dear friend. I'm shure you're at rest peacefully playing the piano & singing hymns of praise. Until we meet once again, & God is ready. Love you "Sis".

Evelyn was one of the best friends I have ever had in my life. She was always ready to listen to whatever was on your mind. Always wanted to go shopping to look for birthday and Christmas presents for everyone . I am so blessed to have so many good memories of the fun times we had together. I know Daniel, Autumn, Preston and Caden will certainly miss her. She was truly a friend to many people and loved her family.

Evelyn was the best aunt anyone could have, her giggle was contagious and she always had you laughing with all her stories.
She always made sure you had something to eat and she never forgot your birthday or anniversary, I loved all those cards and if she found an article in the newspaper she thought you would like or a coupon she would send that to you with the card, she was so thoughtful and loving! I will cherish all the memories I have spending summers with her when we all lived in Florida. You will be missed greatly, Fly high my angel until I see you again! Love you ❤ Valorie

Evelyn was always so special to me and my family. She was a ray of sunshine and generally had a smile on her face. I remember when I was young, she had a pair of orange sandals which I thought were amazing. She was always a fashion statement. I loved the relationship she and Jake had with my mom and dad when I was growing up. She was sweet enough to let me play her 45s of some of my favorite songs over and over when we were visiting. I’m grateful for her love and will miss her, but I’m thankful she is home. Daniel, Autumn, Preston, and Caden, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
